Pearl Harbor Commemoration will Honor AJA Veterans

All World War II Nisei veterans are invited to attend “Fighting Two Wars: AJA Veterans Tribute,” a mid-day banquet on Monday, December 5, at the Hawaii Convention Center Ballroom.

Each veteran and at least one guest or companion can attend free of charge, but registration will be required. Veterans may sign up with their respective clubs. Discount tickets will be available for other friends and relatives of the veterans.

The luncheon will honor Americans of Japanese ancestry who served the United States in World War II with the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Military Intelligence Service and 1399 Engineer Construction Battalion.

Admiral Harry B. Harris Jr., commander of the U.S. Pacific Command, will be the keynote speaker. He is America’s senior military official in the Asia-Pacific and a strong supporter of the AJA veterans.

The December 5 luncheon is one of the signature events of the observance of the Japanese attack on military bases on Oahu on December 7, 1941. Survivors of the attack and all World War II veterans are invited to attend the many other events that make up this commemoration, whose theme is “Honoring the past, inspiring the future.”
