Undying Devotion is a video created by 15 year old Mathew Oh, son of COL (USA) Paul and Sarah Oh, for the National History Day Contest. Matthew won 1st place in the State of Pennsylvania. Hawaii Tourism Japan (HTJ) Recognizes NVL


On May 3, 2019 Hawaii Tourism Japan made a donation to the Nisei Veterans Legacy as part of their Aloha Program educational program. The donations are made to non-profit organizations in Hawaii involved with educational, cultural and sustainability efforts. National Go For Broke Day


Every year, April 5 is celebrated as National "Go For Broke" Day. The saying, which means “all in” or “wager everything” is the motto the Army’s 442nd Regimental Combat Team, the most decorated unit in US military history for its size and length of service.

HSLEA Golf Tournament

Presentation to the Rouren Group


Byrnes Yamashita made a presentation on the Nisei Soldiers to the Rouren Group from Japan at Natsunoya Teahouse on December 18, 2018. The Rouren Group are NHK staff members that are studying World War II. They also visited the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii and the 100th Infantry Battalion clubhouse during their visit.

2018 Joint Memorial Service


The 13th annual Joint Memorial Service sponsored by the Nisei Veterans Legacy (NVL) was held on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2018 at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl. Attendees at this event included veterans from the 100th Infantry Battalion, the 442nd RCT and the Military Intelligence Service, Gov. David Ige, ADM Philip Davidson (Commander, US Indo-Pacific Command), Lt. Gov. Doug Chin, Mayor Kirk Caldwell and Consul General Koichi Ito.

Coffman's Keynote Speech at the JMS



Tom Coffman delivered the keynote speech at the 2018 Joint Memorial Service. His work in book and documentary film is about the social and political development of Hawaii in context of the Pacific Rim.
