Approximately 70 MIS veterans, family members and friends gathered for their annual club luncheon today.
The lucheon featured Japanese food, lots of door prizes and a time for family members to recognize the vetarans.
The Consul General of Japan, Yasushi Misawa, addressed the group as the keynote speaker.

Honolulu, Hawaii. The NVLC's permanent exhibit titled, "Hawaii Nisei Veterans", opened at the Honolulu International Airport today. The dedication ceremony was attended by veterans, dignitaries, family and friends. Among the veterans present were Kenji Ego and Robert Kishnami of the 442nd RCT and former governor Ariyoshi and Herbert Yanamura of the MIS. NVLC's President Deguchi stated, "this exhbit is part of our ongoing commitment to promote the incredible story of the veterans." It highlights the legacy of all four Nisei units.
Sunday, September 25, 2016. The 11th Annual Joint Memorial Service was held today at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific (Punchbowl), Honolulu, Hawaii. A crowd of 400 including veterans, friends and family members, gathered to pay tribute to the all those who served in the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd Regimental Combat Team, Military Intelligence Service and 1399th Engineer Construction Battalion. This year's theme, "Honoring the Past, Inspiring the Future"', coincides with the upcoming commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor.
All World War II Nisei veterans are invited to attend “Fighting Two Wars: AJA Veterans Tribute,” a mid-day banquet on Monday, December 5, at the Hawaii Convention Center Ballroom.
Each veteran and at least one guest or companion can attend free of charge, but registration will be required. Veterans may sign up with their respective clubs. Discount tickets will be available for other friends and relatives of the veterans.
The 74th Anniversary of the 100th Infantry Battalion Banquet was held on Sunday, July 10, at the Pomaikai Ballroom Dole Cannery. There were about 200 attendees including 12 100th Infantry veterans and several 442nd RCT veterans. The NVLC was well represented with president Wes Deguchi and about 10 members present. Shirley Igarashi manned an NVLC informational table in the lobby area and distributed our first newsletter and pens along with membership applications.
