The Learning Center provides information and resources on the heroic contributions of Americans of Japanese ancestry (AJA) to the Allied victory in World War II. The Nisei soldiers served in the U.S. military to prove their loyalty to America after it was called into question after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor.

Upon their return to Hawaii after the war, the Nisei veterans entered the civilian community determined to help make Hawaii and the nation a more democratic society. They entered politics to help change discriminatory laws, created economic institutions to support underserved minorities, fostered improved relations with Japan and dedicated themselves to public service.
