The Nisei Veterans Legacy participated in this year’s Honolulu Festival with a display about the 100th Infantry Battalion, 442nd RCT, MIS and 1399th Engineer Construction Battalion. The sponsoring organization was the Hawaii Senior Life Enrichment Association (HISLEA), whose primarily mission is to promote mutual friendship between Japan and Hawaii. The HISLEA will be supporting the NVLC’s traveling exhibit entitled, “The Hawaii Nikkei Legacy,” a photographic exhibit showcasing Hawaii’s unique Japanese American culture, scheduled to be shown in Japan later this year.
