French Legion of Honor Medal Presentation

THE FRENCH LEGION OF HONOR MEDAL TO BE AWARDED TO TWO (2) WORLD WAR II VETERANS ON APRIL 16, 2016

The Honorary Consul of France in Hawaii, Guillaume Maman, will be awarding his country’s highest decoration — La Légion d’honneur — to two (2) World War II Veterans for their courageous and heroic acts in France during the war.

The distinguished two veterans to be honored are Mr. Joseph Obayashi of Honolulu, Hawaii and Mr. Henry Tessien of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.

15 Craigside has generously offered to host the ceremony in their Solarium Room. Officials to provide remarks will include Major General Mark C. Dillon, Vice Commander of the Pacific Air Forces and Brigadier General Brian E. Alvin, Deputy Commanding General-R of the US Army Pacific. Other local political leaders and international dignitaries will also be in attendance.

Presenting of the Colors will be conducted by the 100th Battalion, 442nd Infantry Regiment Color Guard with an appearance by the incredible French singer, Mélissa Diallo singing the National Anthems.

The event is open to the public. Event details are as follows:
